Celebrating Local Entrepreneurs

The city of Long Beach demonstrated its strong connection to local entrepreneurship on a vibrant Small Business Saturday, held on November 29, 2025. Nestled between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this nationwide event underscores the vital role small businesses play in the community’s economic landscape. According to Long Beach Press-Telegram, the city’s residents and visitors flocked to neighborhood shops and boutiques, highlighting the spirit of local support.

Festivities and Financial Support

The weekend was adorned with special offers, events, and the hallmark announcement of a generous $1 million grant from the state. Local politicians, business owners, and community figures gathered to celebrate the allocation, aimed at assisting small businesses and reinforcing the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association’s Clean and Safe program.

A Boost for the Community

Mayor Rex Richardson reminded the community of the lasting impact made by local small purchases. “Small businesses are the heart of Long Beach – they bring character to our neighborhoods, create jobs, and bolster the local economy,” he shared. The economic ripple effect is significant, with \(68 of every \)100 spent at small businesses remaining within the community.

A Hub of Diversity and Innovation

As Long Beach thrives as a hub for diverse and innovative businesses, community members were urged to explore a range of offerings from boutique clothing and decor stores to artisanal coffee and authentic food shops. This local celebration ignited a sense of pride, reminding shoppers of the invaluable contributions made by these enterprises.

Future Ventures

State Sen. Lena Gonzalez and other city champions urged the shopping community to embrace the “shop small” philosophy this holiday season and beyond. “This Small Business Saturday, we encourage everyone to continue supporting our local businesses and help them grow and thrive,” stated Bo Martinez, director of the Department of Economic Development and Opportunity.

A Community Enriched with Promise

With the support symbolized by the oversized $1 million check, Long Beach shows no signs of slowing down its commitment to nurturing small businesses. As the streets of Long Beach bustle with enthusiasm and solidarity, the foundation for a brighter, more sustainable local economy continues to strengthen, one small shop at a time.
